Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

pariGINI is an iOS application operated as an independent project. Our contact email for all privacy-related enquiries is parigini.contact@gmail.com.

2. What data we collect

We believe in collecting as little data as possible. Here is a complete list of what pariGINI may access or process:

• Addresses you type: Street addresses are sent to a geocoding service to convert them into map coordinates. They are used only to compute the fairness result and are not stored on our servers beyond the duration of the request.
• GPS location (optional): If you tap the location button, the app requests your device's GPS coordinates once to pre-fill your own starting address. This coordinate is used exclusively as your starting point for that single calculation. It is never stored, never transmitted to any analytics system, and never shared with third parties.
• Saved friends and places: Names and addresses you save in the "Saved" tab are stored exclusively on your device using local storage. We cannot access them.
• Crash reports and diagnostics: We may receive anonymised crash reports provided by Apple's standard TestFlight / App Store framework. These do not include any personal data you enter in the app.

3. How we use your data

Your data is used solely to provide the core functionality of the app:

• Geocoding addresses to geographic coordinates;
• Computing transit travel times between those coordinates and candidate places;
• Ranking results by the fair index and displaying them to you.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than those listed above.

4. Data sharing and third parties

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. The only third-party service that receives data is the geocoding/transit API used to compute travel times. Addresses are sent to this service as plain query strings and are subject to that service's own privacy policy. Your GPS coordinates are never shared with any third party.

5. Data retention

We do not retain any personally identifiable information on our servers. Addresses submitted for geocoding are discarded once the response is returned. All saved data (friends, places) resides exclusively on your device and can be deleted by uninstalling the app or removing individual entries from the Saved tab.

6. Your rights under GDPR

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the following rights regarding any personal data we may hold:

• Right of access: You can request a copy of the data we hold about you.
• Right to rectification: You can ask us to correct inaccurate data.
• Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten"): You can ask us to delete your data.
• Right to restriction of processing: You can ask us to stop processing your data in certain circumstances.
• Right to data portability: You can request your data in a machine-readable format.
• Right to object: You can object to processing based on legitimate interests.

7. Location permissions (Apple guidelines)

pariGINI requests "When In Use" location access solely to allow you to use your current position as your own starting address. This permission is entirely optional — you can use the app fully by typing addresses manually. The app never requests "Always On" location access, does not track your location in the background, and does not build a history of your movements. This is consistent with Apple's App Store Review Guidelines on location data usage.

8. Children's privacy

pariGINI is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
